Having struggled with the day three project I was a bit concerned that I may similarly come unstuck with these projects too. This was partly becuase no matter what I tried I couldn’t get the switches to work and I wondered if these projects would need the switches to be working. I needn’t have worried.
These projects make use of the potentiometer from day four and the buzzer from day five and I am glad to say that it was a lot more successful than day three. That said, as you will see in the video, I may have inadvertently discovered what the day three issue was. Watch below for more details.
One thing I need to investigate post advent will be how to make a project more “permament”. Testing on a breadboard is a great way to quickly and easily test out a hardware project but it is way too unstable to be useful for use in a “production” environment. Given that one of the major reasons I got the calendar in the first place was to give me confidence to do my own hardware projects I need to work out how to make that progression. That’s a job for another day but for now I’m happy that this is all working.
